Classroom Reveal

Happy Thursday! It's so hard to believe that today is our first day of school. Summer went by in the blink of an eye, but I'm SO excited to start a new school year with my sweet 3rd graders. I'll be teaching in a new school district this year and I can already tell that I'm going to love where I'm at.

In honor of the first day of school, I'm sharing a little look into my classroom.
A view of my room from my classroom door. I went with a "rainbow and black" color theme in my room this year. I used a lot of the same colors last year so I was able to re-use a lot of my decorations.
I'm so excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year. This is such a fun age-group!

I love the way my reading corner turned out.

My little corner of the room. :)

I assign each student in my room a number, and they use their numbers for so many things: class jobs, turning in work, grouping, and now attendance. I'm hoping to save a little time in the mornings by having my students move their numbers when they arrive in the mornings. This was I can just look and see whose numbers are in the "absent" box and immediately know which students aren't at school.

I try my best to stay as organized as possible. I have an office supplies "toolbox" so that I know exactly where to find something when I need it. I also organize all my lesson plans and assignments by day so I can just go straight to the "Friday" drawer and pull out everything my students are doing that day.

I mentioned above that I assign each student a number. As students turn in work, they pin a clothes pin with their number on their assignments. This way, I can look at the numbers that are left to see who is missing assignments without having to go through all the papers.

Our class supplies and jobs area.

Our school provided supplies for every student this year, so we will be sharing all supplies. Each group of students will get their own supplies caddy.

I also use student numbers to assign each student a job. I'll rotate clothes pins every week or two so that every student is able to do every job. Giving my students jobs not only allows them to learn a little bit about responsibility, but it makes my life a little easier too. ;)

I hope y'all have a great day!
XOXO

  2. 3rd grade! Wow-props to you! Your room looks adorable. I love the little crates with cushions and the pom poms hanging from the ceiling! I bought those too, but they told me they're a fire hazard, so I can't use them!!! :(

    1. Thanks so much girl! That really stinks that you aren't able to use your Pom-poms! I thought they were so cute. I know I would be bummed if I had to take mine down.
