Thanksgiving Break Recap Part 2

I have a feeling this is going to be me today. Tuesday has just begun and it already feels like this week is going to be forever long. Why is it SO hard to go back into the swing of things after a long break?
Yesterday I shared Part 1 of my Thanksgiving Break Recap, and today I'm sharing Part 2. Since we had so much going on during our break, I thought I'd spar you from a major picture overload and break all of our activities into two parts.
Friday I went to my momma's to help her put out all of her Christmas Décor. I put my little brother in charge of taking pictures while we worked. This has ALWAYS been one of my favorite traditions, and it's something that Chase and I started dong this year too. We love to turn on the Christmas music, bake cookies, and decorate the entire house together. Usually after we finish decorating, we all watch a Christmas movie together, but this year my brother had to work and I was anxious to get home and start watching Gilmore Girls so we skipped out on the movie.
I'll never be too old to help my momma decorate her tree.
Everything looked SO cute and festive when we were finished.
After we were finished, I came home and got started on Gilmore Girls. I only got two episodes in before Chase got home and wanted to watch Dexter. We spent the rest of our night being lazy and it was PERFECT.

Saturday morning started with Christmas PJs, coffee, and more Gilmore Girls. I finished the reboot Saturday morning and was SO disappointed... this can NOT be the end.

Saturday afternoon we headed to Thanksgiving number 3 with Chase's dads family. I forgot to take any pictures with family, but snapped a picture of my outfit when we got home. Saturday night we went to town to eat and hangout with some friends.

Sunday we went to church, came home and had leftovers from Thanksgiving, watched the Polar Express, napped, and watched Dexter. My kind of Sunday. :)
Couldn't head to church without stopping by Starbucks on the way.

Sunday's outfit. :)

Have a great day!

Thanksgiving Break Recap Part 1

Happy Monday! I can't believe that Monday is already here, the holidays always seem to go by so fast. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and were able to spend time with your families. Today I'm sharing a little recap of the first half of my Thanksgiving break.I tried to make the most of every moment of my break. While in college, I worked retail, and spent my Thanksgiving and all of my weekends leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas working. I loved my job and work family, but I admit I would dread the holidays because I wasn't able to spend that time with my family. This was my first year in four years that I've not had to work during the holiday season, and I am more thankful for that time now more than ever. I made sure to soak up every moment of family time and I didn't it for granted like I used to. It is such a blessing to have landed my dream job right out of college, and to be in a profession that allows me to have time off during the holidays to spend with my family. I'm always thankful, but this past week I have really reflected on all my blessings. God is SO good!
After work Tuesday I headed to my moms to meet up before going to dinner for my little brother's birthday. I was SO happy to officially be off for the rest of the week and to spend some time with my family.
My "not so little" little brother. I can't believe he is 17!

A little close up of my outfit from that night. :)

I started my Wednesday morning doing two of my favorite things: Drinking Coffee and Bible Journaling.
This has become one of the most relaxing parts of my day.

After coffee, bible journaling, and an episode of Gilmore Girls, I got ready and headed to run some errands with my momma.
It was a cloudy, drizzly day so I pulled out my military jacket and duck boots, added a scarf, and called it a day. Cute and comfy is my favorite type of outfit, especially on a nasty day.

Thursday morning I was up bright and early, I started my day with some coffee,  and a few episodes of  Dexter with the hubby before heading to our first thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving number one was at my Aunt's. LOVE this guy. :)

My sweet big sister.

And another...

So blessed to have these guys as my siblings.

My sweet cousin.

After leaving my Aunt's, we headed to the cemetery to visit my daddy. This was our second Thanksgiving without him. I miss him SO much, especially around the holidays.

Thanksgiving number two was at my mother-in-laws. My momma and mother-in-law are neighbors, so they both cooked and we all met up at my mother-in-laws to eat. SO thankful for my all of my family.

LOVE my momma.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope y'all have a GREAT week!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!

I can't believe the weekend is over, but I'm looking forward to a short school week, and then THANKSGIVING. I can hardly contain my excitement for all the exciting things to come this week. I'm looking forward to lots of time spent with family, AND of course the Gilmore Girls reboot. After today, I'm taking a little blogging break until after Thanksgiving. But for now, here's a little look at our weekend:
Friday afternoon was spent Christmas tree shopping, and spending time with family at dinner.

Saturday morning I spent the day shopping for Christmas décor with my mama, and I'm pretty sure we bought every cute Christmas decoration that Hobby Lobby had.
Lunch at Panera never disappoints. MY FAVE.

Sunday morning we headed to church, and had lunch at one of my favorite local restaurants after.
Sunday's outfit. I got this fur vest for Christmas last year and I LOVE it! I love wearing it over flannels, or with a sweater and cute necklace. :)

I also LOVE these Jessica Simpson booties. This picture doesn't show the fringe on the sides, but they are SO cute. I will post a better picture of them soon.

After church and lunch, I came home and napped for a bit, and then talked the hubby into helping me put up all of our new Christmas decorations. I am absolutely in LOVE with how everything turned out. It makes our home feel so cozy.

I hope y'all have the BEST week, and a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I can't the believe the weekend is already here. This week has flown by! We don't have any big plans this weekend, but we are planning to buy our first Chrisrnas Tree and I'm so excited! Since we are newlyweds, and this is our first year living together and on our own, we don't have any Christmas decorations at all, so I'm excited to hit up Kirklands and Hobby Lobby this weekend as well to find some festive decorations for our first Christmas Married. Today I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci and sharing my Friday Favorites. Today's favorites a little random, as usual. :)

I've been wanting to start Bible Journaling for a while now. A little over a week ago, I ordered a journaling bible, and was so excited to get started. I've been trying to be better about reading my bible daily, and this has definitely made it easier. This has became one of my FAVORITE parts of the day, along with my morning time.

Last Saturday morning I wasn't feeling well, so I grabbed a cup of coffee & my favorite blanket and got cozy on the couch. I spent over an hour reading different chapters in my bible and journaling when I saw verses that really stood out to me. It was such a great way to relax, and spend some time with God.
These are some of my FAVORITE fashion picks from this week.

Plaid scarves and vests have been on repeat in my wardrobe here lately. I love that they can be styled so many different ways.

I ordered these earrings after seeing them on Sheaffer's Blog. They came in the mail Wednesday and I LOVE them. I'm keeping these for myself, but they would make the perfect Christmas gift.

I also bought this scarf last weekend. After seeing Shay recommend it over and over again AND then seeing Kristi post about it last Friday, I HAD to have it. :)

It came in the mail on Wednesday with my earrings, and I wore it to school yesterday. I can already tell its going to be a new FAVORITE piece.

Today my FAVORITE guy and I are celebrating five months of marriage.

Our wedding pictures are also a FAVORITE. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope y'all have a good weekend!

Fashion Trend Thursday.

Happy Thursday y'all! I can't believe it's already Thursday. One day away from the weekend, four school days away from a long break from school, and only ONE week until Thanksgiving. Today I'm sharing some of my favorite Fashion Trends from this week.
You can tell from the next three pictures that blanket scarves, and vests have been on repeat here lately. I LOVE both of these pieces because they can be styled so many different ways.
I'm wearing my very favorite American Eagle sweater, that I've only mentioned a hundred times, here. My Toms wedges are another favorite of mine. :)

This was the perfect outfit for a trip to the grocery on Sunday, cute and comfy is always a win in my book.

I wore this outfit to school on Wednesday. I thought it was cute both with or without the vest. I've been wearing my gold Michael Kors flats a lot here lately too.

Here I'm wearing favorite American Eagle Sweater, AGAIN, in a different color. I'm also wearing the cutest patterned Pixie Pants from Old Navy.

Have a good day!

This Week's Menu

Happy Wednesday Y'all! Today I'm sharing some of the meals that are on our menu for this week. One of my goals for the month of November was to be healthier, which of course includes eating healthier. I usually do great when it comes to eating a healthy breakfast and lunch, but struggle when it comes to making a healthy dinner that both Chase and I like, so I've been trying to make more health-conscious decisions when it comes to cooking dinner here lately. When I cook I usually make enough for us to have left overs the next night, and I usually take Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. This way, I'm only having to cook two or three times a week
Here's what we're eating this week:

Broccoli Cheddar Soup with Fresh Veggies

4 Cups of Fresh Broccoli (Chopped)
1 Cup of Shredded Carrots
1 Cup of Red Potatoes (Chopped)
1 Yellow Onion (Chopped)
2 and 1/2 Cups of Low-Sodium Chicken Broth
2 oz. of Low-Fat Cream Cheese
1 12oz. Can of Evaporated Milk
1 Block of Sharp Cheddar Cheese (Grated)

1. Throw chopped broccoli, potatoes, onions, carrots, chicken broth, and cream cheese in the crock pot and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours.

2. Once all veggies are cooked, add in a 12 oz. can of evaporated milk, and put 3/4 of the veggies with milk in a food processor blender. Return veggies to crock pot, and add in your block of grated cheddar cheese. Let cook on high for 30-minutes to an hour.

Chicken/Cream Cheese Taquitos

1 Package of Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breasts
1 8oz. Package of low fat Cream Cheese
1 Can of rotell
1 TBS of Chili Powder
1 TSP of Garlic Powder
1 TSP of Ground Cumin
1 Cup of Shredded Mexican Cheese
8 Tortilla Shells

Throw chicken, rotell, spices, and cream cheese into the crock pot, cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours. When chicken is cooked, shred it and set it aside.
Put a little bit of shredded cheese on each shell, and heat in a pan for about 60 seconds.
After you remove the shell from heat, put chicken mixture and more cheese in each shell and roll tightly. Top with cheese, and bake on 400 degrees for about 10 minutes, or unit cheese is melted. This was my first time making these and we loved them.

Thanks for stopping by!
